Melania Trump, the First Lady of the United States, has issued a strong denial regarding any connection to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, referring to claims linking her to him as fabricated. In a rare public statement delivered at the White House, she asserted, “I am not Epstein’s victim,” and clarified that Epstein did not facilitate her introduction to her husband, Donald Trump.
Melania Trump emphasised that she had no prior knowledge of Epstein’s illicit activities. “I have never had any knowledge of Epstein’s abuse of his victims,” she stated, and firmly declared her non-involvement with him: “I was not a participant, was never on Epstein’s plane, and never visited his private island.”
Moreover, she described an email exchanged with Epstein’s former associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, in 2002 as merely “casual correspondence.” While Donald Trump had a social and professional relationship with Epstein, he claimed to have ended it before Epstein’s death in 2019.
In her remarks, Melania called for an end to the “lies” linking her to Epstein. She voiced her frustration with those spreading misinformation, labelling them as lacking ethical standards and showing no respect for her reputation. “I do not object to their ignorance, but rather, I reject their mean-spirited attempts to defame my reputation,” she declared.
She urged Congress to conduct hearings centred on the survivors of Epstein’s abuse, highlighting that “Epstein was not alone” and referring to the resignations of several high-profile male executives following the scandal. While she noted that this does not automatically imply guilt for those involved, she called for a transparent investigation into the truth behind Epstein’s actions.
Melania concluded her statement by advocating for survivors, expressing that every woman should have the opportunity to share her story and that such openness is critical in pursuing truth and justice.
Her statement marks a significant moment, as it rebuts longstanding speculation and seeks to clarify her stance amid ongoing discussions about Epstein’s criminal legacy.
