Several firefighters sustained injuries following a roof collapse during a fire at a unit complex in Whalan, a suburb of western Sydney. Emergency services received the call at approximately 9:50 PM to respond to the incident on Halinda Street.

Police were the first responders, entering the burning building to assist in evacuating residents safely from their apartments. While firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control, the unit complex suffered extensive damage and was ultimately destroyed.

The injuries to the firefighters occurred when the roof gave way, although fortunately, there were no reports of injuries among the residents. Authorities are investigating the fire, which is being treated as suspicious, and investigators are expected to be on-site soon for further examination.

Local news outlet 9news.com.au has reached out to Fire and Rescue NSW for additional information regarding the incident.
