In a troubling incident in Broadmeadows, Melbourne, two men were stabbed outside a Bunnings store after allegedly tracking down stolen Apple AirPods. The confrontation unfolded at approximately 7:30 PM, prompting police to respond to reports of a stabbing and altercation in the car park off Pearcedale Parade.

Police discovered a 40-year-old man and an 18-year-old boy, both residents of Glenroy, who sustained stab wounds. Both were transported to hospital, where their injuries were assessed as non-life-threatening. Earlier in the evening, around 6:15 PM, the 18-year-old reportedly had his AirPods stolen from a nearby shopping centre, leading him and his companion to the Bunnings car park in pursuit of the alleged thieves.

Witnesses indicated that a group of four or five teenagers fled the scene following the altercation. The police air unit subsequently located this group at an address on Fir Close in Broadmeadows, resulting in the arrest of an 18-year-old and three others aged 19.

Authorities also reported that a 14-year-old boy may have been injured during the fracas, requiring hospital treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. As investigations continued, police expressed their intention to interview this younger individual.

Charges have been laid in connection with the incident. A 19-year-old from Craigieburn faces serious charges of causing injury with intent in circumstances of gross violence, along with affray and robbery. Additionally, the 18-year-old from Meadow Heights is charged with intentionally and recklessly causing injury and affray. Both were remanded to appear in front of the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court.

Two other 19-year-olds, hailing from Coolaroo and Broadmeadows, have been released on bail and are scheduled to appear at Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court on June 17. One of them faces charges of affray, while the other is charged with a series of offences including intentionally and recklessly causing injury, assault by kicking, and robbery.

This incident highlights the growing concern over safety and violence in public spaces, particularly involving youth and theft-related confrontations. As the legal proceedings commence, the community remains on edge, hoping for clarity and justice in response to this violent encounter.
