Two Raiders players have faced disciplinary actions following a late-night altercation at a hotel just before the upcoming season opener in Las Vegas. As reported by Nine’s Danny Weidler, details surrounding the incident remain scarce, with the identities of the players yet to be disclosed.
According to Weidler, the incident prompted the players’ eviction from the hotel, not only due to their involvement in the scuffle but also because the establishment could not find their names on the guest list. This confusion was attributed to a system outage that resulted in some guests waiting up to seven hours to check in.
Raiders coach Ricky Stuart has acknowledged the incident, which transpired on the team’s first night at the hotel. He confirmed that he has addressed the situation firmly, describing the players’ actions as irresponsible and emphasising his commitment to preparing the team for their match against the Warriors on Sunday (AEDT).
Reports indicate that the confrontation occurred in the hotel corridors, and security was required to intervene. At the time, the players were reportedly found in possession of an inflatable baseball bat. Although they faced initial removal from the hotel, they were later allowed to return to their rooms, albeit after being mistakenly directed to one of the Penrith players’ rooms.
With the season opener fast approaching, all attention will now turn to the Raiders as they prepare to face the Warriors.
