The Canberra Raiders have extended an invite to UFC president Dana White, asking him to blow the Viking horn at their upcoming NRL game in Las Vegas. As reported by The Sydney Morning Herald, the Raiders are keen on involving high-profile sports figures, with White topping their list. He has confirmed his attendance at Allegiant Stadium on March 2 (AEDT), which is seen as a significant boost for the NRL.
Raiders CEO Don Furner expressed hopes for White to take a more active role beyond merely being a spectator. Among other celebrities approached for the honour are Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski, and Las Vegas Raiders coach Pete Carroll. Furner noted that having any of these stars sound the horn would generate remarkable global exposure for the club.
Recently, White was seen mingling with rugby league personalities, including Raiders player Hudson Young, during UFC 312 in Sydney. The Raiders are also fostering ties with their American counterparts, the Las Vegas Raiders. Due to logistical challenges associated with shipping their traditional horn, a special Viking horn will be used for the occasion. Meanwhile, the Raiders are also exploring the prospect of attracting Donald Trump to the double-header event.
