A tragic incident occurred in the Hunter Valley region of New South Wales overnight, resulting in the death of a man following a car allegedly performing burnouts. The police are currently searching for the driver of a modified Ford Fairmont sedan, which reportedly struck three individuals at a fire trail located off Haul Road in Stockrington, roughly 22 kilometres from Kurri Kurri, at around midnight.

Among the victims, a 53-year-old man sustained critical head injuries and unfortunately passed away shortly after the incident. Two women who were also reportedly hit by the vehicle fled the scene prior to the arrival of emergency services.

After the incident, the vehicle believed to be involved was discovered burnt out on McFarlanes Road in Chisolm at approximately 2:40 am. Police have seized the Ford, which will undergo forensic examination as part of the ongoing investigation. Suspected crime scenes have been established in both Stockrington and Chisolm.

Authorities are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information, particularly the driver of the involved Ford, to come forward. They are encouraged to contact Hunter Valley Police or call Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000 to assist with the investigation.
