Woolworths CEO Amanda Bardwell has announced a significant initiative aimed at reducing prices for shoppers, vowing to lower on-shelf prices for “hundreds” of products starting this week. The supermarket chain plans to reduce prices by an average of 10 per cent on nearly 400 items, including popular staples such as bread, chicken schnitzels, and dishwasher pods.

This price drop will commence on Wednesday, 14 May, and Woolworths has guaranteed these lower prices will remain in effect until at least 2026. Bardwell emphasised that this is not merely a temporary promotion but a commitment to providing enduring value for customers on frequently purchased items. The focus will be on well-loved products, such as Greek yoghurt, frozen berries, and essential items like flour and nappies.

Bardwell highlighted that while each individual price reduction may appear modest, collectively they can lead to substantial savings for families. For instance, a household spending around $150 on groceries could save approximately $15 per week by opting for the newly priced products.

Additionally, Woolworths plans to expand this list of discounted items in the coming weeks and months, reinforcing their dedication to offering reliable, long-term savings to customers.
