Four teenagers aged 15 have been taken into custody following a string of alleged carjackings in Melbourne’s north-western suburbs last night.
Police received reports around 11pm that a group of three boys confronted a man on Timbertop Parade in Aintree, demanding his car. Despite the boys allegedly wielding edged weapons, the victim refused to relinquish his vehicle.
During the encounter, he was reportedly assaulted, prompting the attackers to flee the scene. The injured man was subsequently taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Shortly thereafter, the same group allegedly targeted another individual on Hertford Road in Sunshine around 11:50pm, successfully stealing his silver Toyota Camry after assaulting him.
Law enforcement later spotted the Camry, alongside a Toyota Kluger, which was believed to have been stolen in a previous carjacking incident in Sunshine the week before. They tracked the Camry to Matheson Terrace in Hillside, where the suspects abandoned the vehicle.
Police apprehended three of the boys nearby and seized several edged weapons. The stolen Kluger was discovered left behind on Kellie Court in Albanvale. One of the boys attempted to escape but was captured shortly after.
Authorities have stated that all four teenagers will be questioned, although no charges have been filed at this time.
