A teenage boy recently encountered a distressing scene when he discovered his parents gravely injured on an Adelaide road after they were struck by a van while walking their dog. The incident occurred at a notorious intersection on Montacute Road in Newton just before 9am, involving a 48-year-old woman and her 51-year-old husband, both of whom have since been hospitalised.
Witness Sandra Liberatore recounted the event, describing how the couple and their dog were crossing the road when the van collided with them. Tragically, she observed that the woman fell to the ground, and the van went over her. The teenage son arrived shortly after and was left inconsolable, visibly distressed by the situation.
Following the collision, the woman suffered critical head injuries and was transported to the hospital for urgent care. Her husband is also receiving treatment for serious injuries, while the family dog remains unharmed. The driver of the van, a 91-year-old man from Rostrevor, was visibly shaken after the crash. Authorities have reported him for two counts of dangerous driving, and his driver’s licence has been indefinitely suspended.
This incident has sparked renewed apprehensions among local residents regarding the safety of the intersection where it took place, highlighting ongoing concerns about traffic conditions in the area.
