A woman is currently fighting for her life in a hospital following a serious car crash in south-western Sydney. The incident occurred on Fenwick Street in Bankstown, a location known for its dangerous driving conditions. Witnesses reported hearing excessive revving noises shortly before the accident.
The driver of the vehicle, reported to be operating under the influence and performing burnouts before the collision, lost control of the car, which then skidded and struck a parked utility vehicle. Residents quickly responded to the scene until emergency services arrived.
Firefighters managed to extricate the 26-year-old driver and his 23-year-old female passenger from the wreckage. While the driver sustained only minor injuries, the woman suffered significant head trauma and is currently in a critical condition at Liverpool Hospital.
Initial reports indicate that the driver failed a roadside breath test and was taken to the hospital for further evaluation and treatment of a fractured collarbone, where he is under police supervision.
Local residents have expressed their concerns about the frequency of hooning in the area and are urging council authorities to implement measures to enhance road safety and reduce speeding.
