A tragic incident unfolded in Melbourne over the weekend when a driver collided with a group of pedestrians outside the Supanova Comic Con and Gaming event, leading to the death of a 20-year-old man from Keysborough and serious injuries to his friend. The police reported that the vehicle, a Toyota Echo, veered off the road and struck the victims shortly before 5pm outside the Melbourne Showgrounds in Ascot Vale.

Authorities have stated that the driver, identified as 33-year-old Amer Dau, was on bail at the time of the accident. In light of these events, he has been charged with dangerous driving causing death, culpable driving, and committing an indictable offence while on bail. During his court appearance, Dau did not apply for bail and will remain in custody until his next court date in September. There are indications that additional charges may follow.

The incident has shocked the community and raised questions about road safety, particularly in areas with high pedestrian traffic. The investigation remains ongoing, with the police looking into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
