James Vlassakis, the youngest member of the notorious Snowtown murderers, has been granted parole by South Australian authorities. At just 19, Vlassakis was convicted for his involvement in four of the eleven murders that became known as the “bodies in the barrels” case during the 1990s. After serving 26 years behind bars, he is now eligible for release.

The South Australian Parole Board made the decision to approve his parole application today. However, the timeline for his actual release remains uncertain, as other state officials, including the attorney-general, have two months to review the ruling before any final decision is made.
