Police are currently probing a shooting incident involving a young man that took place on the Gold Coast, resulting in critical injuries. The situation unfolded at around 2am when emergency services responded to a disturbance at Peninsular Drive in Surfers Paradise.
Upon arrival, authorities discovered a 21-year-old male victim with a gunshot wound to his abdomen and additional lacerations on his upper back. Another individual, aged 44, was also found injured with cuts to his back. Emergency responders administered first aid before both men were transported to hospital, where their conditions are described as critical but stable.
A third individual, a 38-year-old man known to the victims, fled the crime scene in a white Mazda hatchback prior to police arrival. In addition to locating the victims, officers found a firearm at the site, leading to the establishment of a crime scene as the investigation continues.
Authorities are urging anyone who might have witnessed the incident or possesses relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to reach out, either by calling 131 444 or submitting an online report through the Queensland police website. Investigations into the shooting are ongoing.
