At just 12 years old, Bryson became one of the youngest detectives ever as a result of his wish granted by NSW Police and Make-A-Wish Australia. Bryson, who has been fighting brain cancer since he was three, participated in an exciting day-long role as a detective, engaging in a simulated investigation involving a notorious thief last seen in the Domain.
On this special day, Bryson took the lead in a police investigation, commanding the riot squad and working diligently to solve the case. After successfully piecing everything together, he expressed his joy by stating, “It’s been very fun,” and feeling a strong sense of pride in what he accomplished.
The culmination of his detective experience took place on the iconic steps of the Sydney Opera House, where he was met with loud applause from a crowd of supportive onlookers. Bryson’s remarkable achievement comes in the face of significant health challenges; he was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a type of paediatric brain cancer, at the young age of three. Although he went into remission, he recently had to navigate a new health obstacle, being diagnosed with Gorlin Syndrome.
Despite his medical hurdles, Bryson’s resilience shines through, along with his unwavering enthusiasm for police work. His mother, Tamara Miles, reflected on the emotional impact of the day, calling it a “once-in-a-lifetime scenario” and highlighting Bryson’s strength over the past few months.
This inspiring event not only showcased Bryson’s determination but also the power of dreams and community support, illustrating how moments of joy can shine brightly even in the midst of adversity.
