A woman has been taken into custody following an alleged hit-and-run incident in the southwest of Sydney, where a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle. The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 am when a man in his 30s was crossing Hoxton Road in Cartwright, close to Ash Road. He was promptly treated by paramedics at the scene before being transported to Liverpool Hospital in critical condition.

According to local authorities, the driver fled the scene immediately after the collision. However, shortly after the incident, a 35-year-old woman returned to the location on foot and engaged with police. Officers subsequently arrested her, and she was subjected to mandatory testing. She is currently in police custody.

Authorities are appealing for anyone who may have dashcam footage of the area during the time of the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation through Crime Stoppers.
