Emergency services responded to an incident at Darling Downs Zoo, located in Pilton, south of Toowoomba, at approximately 8:23 am today. Reports indicated that a woman in her 50s sustained injuries to her arm, believed to be a result of a bite from one of the zoo’s big cats.

Queensland Ambulance confirmed that the woman, who is thought to be a zoo employee, sustained a serious injury to her arm from the animal bite. Following the incident, she was airlifted by rescue helicopter to Princess Alexandra Hospital, where she remains in a stable condition.

In light of the situation, the zoo announced via a Facebook post that it would remain closed for the entire day due to “unforeseen circumstances.” Inquiries have been made with the zoo by 9news.com.au regarding further details.
