A tragic fire incident occurred this morning at an apartment building on Allister Street in Cremorne, Sydney’s lower north shore, where paramedics were unable to revive a woman who was rescued from the blaze. Emergency services responded promptly at approximately 7am, with firefighters extracting the woman from her unit before paramedics endeavoured to perform CPR. Despite their efforts, the woman, believed to be in her 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to NSW Police.
The fire was extinguished shortly after the rescue operation, and the authorities have since established a crime scene. Detectives from the North Shore Police Area Command are undertaking an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. A report is set to be compiled for the coroner as part of the investigative process. The identity of the deceased woman has not yet been officially confirmed.
