A crime scene has been established following the tragic death of a woman in a unit fire on the Gold Coast, Queensland. Emergency services responded to the incident on Surf Parade in Surfers Paradise around 2pm local time, where they encountered thick, black smoke billowing from the building. As a precaution, the building was evacuated and surrounding streets were cordoned off.
Despite paramedics’ efforts to assist the woman at the scene, she was ultimately unable to be saved. Authorities have launched an investigation into the fire’s origins, although the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death are currently being regarded as non-suspicious.
As the investigation unfolds, residents of the area have been permitted to return to their homes.
