A man has been arrested and charged in connection with a serious incident in Alice Springs, during which he allegedly assaulted a man with a disability and committed an indecent act against a woman while she was asleep.
Authorities received a call regarding an unlawful entry into a home at Kilgariff around 6:20 am yesterday. Reports indicate that the accused entered the residence and targeted the man living with a disability. Following this, he allegedly indecently assaulted a sleeping woman, waking her in the process. In response to her screams, the assailant is said to have fled the scene.
Police were quick to respond to the situation, apprehending a 24-year-old man in the vicinity of Len Kittle Drive shortly thereafter. He has since been charged with aggravated assault, indecent touching or acts, and burglary. The alleged perpetrator was remanded in custody and is set to appear in Alice Springs Local Court today.
