Woman accused of attempted murder following alleged assault on runner

A woman faces attempted murder charges following an assault on a jogger in Melbourne. Authorities report that the incident occurred around 10:45 am on the Merri Creek trail near Fitzroy North, where a 24-year-old woman was running when she was allegedly attacked by another woman.

The victim sustained significant head injuries during the attack and was assisted by bystanders before being transported to the hospital. Thankfully, her injuries were deemed non-life-threatening.

Shortly after the incident, a 29-year-old woman was apprehended in the vicinity. Following police questioning, she was charged with attempted murder and intentionally causing injury. The accused was scheduled to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court later that day.
