A woman in Seven Hills, Sydney, has been rendered homeless after a vehicle crashed into her house while she was asleep. Excellcia Starr was in her home when a blue Skoda sedan lost control on Lucas Road, hurtling through her front yard, demolishing a brick wall, and ultimately crashing into her bathroom in the early hours of the morning.
Starr recounted the harrowing experience to 9News, expressing her shock at the sudden noise that interrupted her sleep. “I heard this bang and I was thinking, ‘what the hell is this?'” she said. Inside the car were three men, who initially fled the scene but were later pursued by police and a dog squad. A witness described how one of the men checked on the driver before escaping.
Two of the men returned to the scene after some time. The driver and a passenger sustained injuries to their necks and backs and were taken to hospital, where the driver underwent mandatory testing. Both are expected to face charges once they recover. However, a third man remains unaccounted for. Starr expressed her distress over their actions, stating, “They hit the house and ran, and that’s the most disgusting part about it.”
This incident marks a troubling repeat for Starr, who revealed that her home underwent a similar hit-and-run incident 15 years prior. Currently, she faces numerous challenges, including limited access to toilet facilities due to her wheelchair dependency, and is calling for improved safety measures along Lucas Road to prevent future accidents. “There’s nobody in the middle of the night that can come and help,” she lamented, highlighting the isolation she felt after the crash. As of now, she has been displaced from her home for hours since the collision occurred at 1 AM.
