West Coast defender Brady Hough has received a $1500 fine from the Match Review Officer (MRO) following an incident involving St Kilda ruckman Rowan Marshall. The contact occurred late in the third quarter while Marshall was attempting a goal, resulting in him falling to the ground and subsequently holding his sore shoulder. Hough then made further contact by bumping Marshall as he lay on the ground.

Marshall expressed his displeasure to Hough after the incident, which escalated briefly when teammate Mattaes Phillipou intervened, appearing to injure his hand in the confrontation. The MRO ruled that Hough’s actions constituted “unreasonable or unnecessary contact with an injured player.”

In a concerning turn of events for St Kilda, star midfielder Jack Macrae has been sidelined with a punctured lung incurred during the same match. Fortunately, he has been cleared by medical staff to return home, eliminating the need for a long drive across the Nullarbor.

Looking ahead, St Kilda is preparing to host Gold Coast on Sunday, whilst West Coast faces the challenge of playing against Adelaide.
