Wests Tigers coach Benji Marshall is enthusiastic about the team’s future as they prepare to part ways with Lachlan Galvin, who seems set to join the Canterbury Bulldogs. A recent Instagram video from a Bulldogs fan account captured the 19-year-old training in his new club’s gear, although Canterbury has yet to make an official announcement regarding his signing. Despite still being under contract with the Tigers, Galvin did not accompany the team to their upcoming match against the Cowboys in Townsville.

Marshall addressed the situation candidly, stating he doesn’t feel disappointment over Galvin’s departure. Instead, he expressed his positivity about the existing squad and the young talent developing within the club. He emphasised their commitment to making a mark in the current competition and conveyed confidence in their capabilities, calling for the team to perform well in their next game.

Galvin’s tenure with the Tigers has been fraught with difficulties, particularly after his manager, Isaac Moses, declined discussions for a lucrative contract extension last month. Following a period of uncertainty, Wests Tigers are poised to grant Galvin a mid-contract release. With the absence of fellow playmaker Latu Fainu, who is currently sidelined, Mason Heath will step in as five-eighth for the match against the Cowboys.

Marshall noted an uplifting atmosphere at the Tigers’ training sessions, stating that the team is eager to take the field following a bye week. He remarked on the positive energy and high spirits circulating through the group, highlighting the contributions of new players like Heath and the leadership within the squad, which has fostered a strong preparation for their upcoming match. At present, the Tigers find themselves in 12th place on the ladder with a record of five victories out of eleven games.
