Jillian Shriner has been released on a US$1 million bond following her arrest, which stemmed from an incident in Eagle Rock, East LA. Initially, police reported she was booked for attempted murder of a peace officer, but as of Thursday, no formal charges had been decided by prosecutors.
The incident unfolded when officers were investigating an unrelated hit-and-run and noticed Shriner, armed with a handgun, in a nearby residence. After repeatedly ignoring commands to disarm, she allegedly pointed her weapon at the officers, prompting an officer-involved shooting. Shriner was struck by gunfire and retreated into her home before later surrendering to authorities. A 9 mm handgun was recovered from her residence.
Paramedics transported Shriner to a hospital to treat a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among officers or bystanders during the confrontation. According to the LAPD, their investigation revealed evidence, including shell casings and video footage, supporting allegations that Shriner fired her weapon at the police.
On a personal note, Shriner had recently shared on Instagram her battle with cancer, expressing gratitude towards her oncology team at Glendale Advent Hospital following a successful surgery. An accomplished author, she is known for her memoir “Some Girls: My Life in a Harem,” and she has been married to Scott Shriner, the bassist for the band Weezer, since 2005. As Weezer prepared to perform at Coachella, Scott reassured the public that Jillian was doing well, stating, “She’s alright, thank you for asking. See you at Coachella!”
