Adam Doueihi’s future with the Wests Tigers is uncertain as he evaluates a revised two-year contract offer amidst interest from the Dragons for the upcoming season. Initially, Doueihi was presented with a one-year extension worth $350,000, which has now been expanded to a more favourable two-year deal, maintaining the same salary. At 26, Doueihi seemingly prefers to stay at the Tigers, though club CEO Shane Richardson has made it clear that this is their final proposal, stating, “If he doesn’t accept it, we’ll have to move on.”
Doueihi has recently displayed impressive form, particularly highlighted by his match-winning field goal against the Titans in round 20 and a key role in the Tigers’ strong performance against the Bulldogs. NRL legend Billy Slater commended his transition to the halves, noting his significant impact on the game by controlling kicking duties and contributing with two try assists and a solo try.
The possibility of joining the Dragons is intriguing for Doueihi, who could help fill a long-term playmaking void as the club seeks success following seven consecutive years without finals appearances. Coach Shane Flanagan expressed a desire to recruit Doueihi, recognising his versatility to play both in the halves and as a ball-playing forward, ideally to replace Jack de Belin, who will move to Parramatta for the 2026 season.
Flanagan stated, “We’re having a chat with him at the moment, and whether it happens or not, I suppose time and money will tell,” highlighting the ongoing discussions regarding his potential transfer. Meanwhile, St George Illawarra has already signed Daniel Atkinson for the halves, implying that management is proactive in securing their roster.
As speculation continues around Doueihi’s future, it remains to be seen whether he will accept the Tigers’ offer or explore opportunities with the Dragons and enhance his role within the NRL landscape.
