New Zealand Warriors assistant coach Richard Agar is facing a suspension following an incident in Las Vegas, where he reportedly confronts an English journalist during the season opener. Due to this altercation, the NRL has issued a breach notice against Agar, proposing a fine of $10,000—half of which is suspended—and a three-match suspension. Agar has the option to contest these findings.

According to an official NRL statement, the breach notice indicates a violation of the NRL’s code of conduct tied to the incident with a media representative. If enforced, the suspension will bar Agar from performing his duties as assistant coach during the specified matches, as well as from attending away games for the Warriors during this suspension period.

Agar, aged 53, has a history in coaching, previously serving as head coach in the Super League with notable clubs such as Leeds, Wakefield Trinity, and Hull FC. He joined the Warriors two years ago when Andrew Webster took the helm. Should the suspension proceed, Agar will miss the upcoming matches against the Roosters, Tigers, and Storm.
