The College of Cardinals has announced that public viewing of Pope Francis will commence on Wednesday at St Peter’s Basilica. This will follow a procession transporting his casket from the Vatican hotel where he resided.
Archbishop Diego Ravelli, the master of liturgical ceremonies, has provided the guidelines for the procession, based on the directives from the College of Cardinals, which convened today to make initial arrangements following the Pope’s passing. Cardinal Kevin Farrell, the camerlengo (acting administrator for the Vatican), will oversee both the procession and the ceremonial transfer of the Pope’s remains.
