NSW Transport Minister Jo Haylen’s office in Marrickville, Sydney, was vandalised with graffiti featuring the words “antisemite” and “honour your oath separate church & state.” Haylen condemned the act as a “disgraceful and cowardly” attack, marking the fourth such incident targeting her office. Describing the vandalism as an attempt to intimidate the multicultural community, she stated, “I will not be intimidated by them, nor will the rest of our Inner West community.” The local office has contacted NSW Police, confident in their ability to investigate and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Police confirmed that the vandalism occurred around 1pm, and an investigation is currently underway. They emphasized the seriousness of hate crimes and encouraged anyone affected to report incidents through Crime Stoppers.
This incident comes amid a rise in antisemitic acts in Sydney, which includes an alleged arson attempt on a Newtown synagogue and the vandalism of a childcare centre in Maroubra. Haylen stressed the need for community cooperation with law enforcement to ensure a safer environment for all.
