A 91-year-old great-grandmother, Joanna “Jopie” De Loryn, recently confronted a burglar at her home in Brisbane while taking out the rubbish on February 12. During the incident, the intruder stole her purse, which contained a sentimental plaque commemorating her late husband, Bart, who passed away a year ago. The plaque, which features a photo and the inscription, “I will carry you with me until I see you again,” holds immense emotional value for Jopie, representing their 65 years of marriage.
Fortunately, today the police returned some of her stolen items, including her cherished purse. Expressing her relief, Jopie stated, “I was so pleased when the police came this morning and they gave me my purse. I don’t care about the money, but I’m glad to have the plaque back.” She was thankful that the plaque had not been damaged and appreciated the fact that she could continue using her purse without needing to replace it. The investigation into the theft is ongoing, as authorities work to resolve the incident.
