Joggers in inner Sydney are on a mission to locate an elusive millionaire who holds a winning Powerball ticket worth $100 million. This search began after a ticket purchased at a Bondi Junction newsagency on June 12 remained unclaimed for over two months. The lottery officials are increasingly eager to connect with the mystery winner.
To aid in this effort, a group of runners took to the city streets, hoping their presence could jog the memory of the unidentified ticket-holder. Matt Hart, a spokesperson for The Lott, expressed the organisation’s anticipation, noting that it has been 63 days since the winning ticket was drawn. With each passing day, they ponder whether that day would mark the winner’s revelation.
The winning ticket, bought from Bondi Junction Newsagency on Oxford Street, places its holder in the ranks of Australia’s top lottery winners. Fortunately, the winner has up to six years to claim their substantial prize. Hart articulated the initiative behind the jog, stating that seeing the runners might remind someone to check their tickets, as it’s common for winners to find their tickets in unexpected places like wallets or drawers.
The winning numbers from the June 12 draw were 28, 10, 3, 16, 31, 14, and 21, with the Powerball being 6. In previous instances, winners have stepped forward long after the draw, claiming their winning tickets were simply overlooked. The community is now rallying to help ensure this significant prize does not go unclaimed.
