A university student has been arrested after police discovered over 25,000 videos and images related to child abuse on his device. The 35-year-old man was taken into custody at the University of New South Wales in Randwick, Sydney, at around 3 PM yesterday. This action was part of Operation Glandore, a police taskforce dedicated to investigating the online distribution and possession of child abuse material.
Authorities conducted a thorough examination of the man’s phone, where they reportedly found numerous disturbing files, including 42 that had been marked as favourites. Following his arrest, he was transported to Maroubra Police Station and charged with accessing child abuse material through electronic means. He was subsequently denied bail and is scheduled to appear in Waverley Local Court today.
This case highlights serious concerns regarding the online exploitation of children and the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat such crimes.
