Two teenagers have been charged in relation to a hit-and-run incident involving a stolen vehicle on the Gold Coast. The event unfolded when the duo allegedly collided a stolen white Mercedes GLC with a tow truck at a service station on Signato Drive in Helensvale at approximately 8 PM. Following the crash, they reportedly fled the scene, leaving the tow truck driver trapped between the two vehicles.
The driver sustained leg injuries and was subsequently transported to Gold Coast University Hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition. Authorities recovered the stolen Mercedes about 40 minutes later, parked on Ken Crescent, with both teenagers still inside the car.
The two boys, both aged 17, were taken into custody by the police. One of the teenagers has been charged with several offences, including unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, and assault. The second teenager faces charges related to unlawful use of a motor vehicle, as well as offences concerning entering a dwelling and handling stolen property.
Both have been denied police bail and are scheduled to appear in Southport Children’s Court on July 7. Police are appealing to the public for any information related to the incident, urging anyone with knowledge to contact them or Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
