Two men have been charged following police raids in Sydney that uncovered approximately $130,000 in cash, illegal drugs, nun-chucks, and luxury watches. The early morning operations took place at 6:25 am on homes across Bexley, Punchbowl, and Padstow as part of an investigation into a suspected criminal syndicate involved in the distribution of substantial quantities of prohibited drugs throughout the city.
A 41-year-old man was arrested at a residence in Bexley and subsequently charged with eight offences, including drug supply and non-compliance with a direction regarding digital evidence. He was denied bail and is scheduled to appear in Sutherland Local Court.
Meanwhile, a 35-year-old man was apprehended in Padstow and taken to Bankstown Police Station. He faces seven charges, including drug supply, possession of a prohibited weapon without a permit, and handling the proceeds of crime. Like his counterpart, he has been refused bail and is set to appear in Bankstown Local Court.
During the course of the raids, police seized around 1.7 kilograms of cocaine, roughly $130,000 in cash, a money counter, 186 grams of MDMA, two mobile phones, two tracking devices, capsicum spray, and nun-chucks. Authorities plan to argue in court that the older man orchestrated the supply and sale of over 1.25 kilograms of illicit drugs with the assistance of the younger man between January and April this year.
