A tragic accident occurred on the Forrest Highway in South Yunderup, near Mandurah, resulting in the deaths of a 31-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man. The couple had parked their white MG sedan in the southbound emergency lane at approximately 6:20 pm yesterday when they were struck by a blue Volvo station wagon, which was also heading south.

Despite the efforts of the driver of the Volvo, who stopped to assist, both occupants of the MG were pronounced dead at the scene. It has been reported that they were only 30 minutes away from their intended destination in Waroon when the incident took place.

The reason for their unplanned stop remains unclear at this stage. Local authorities are conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash and are encouraging anyone who may have witnessed the events to come forward with information.
