Two men have been arrested following a stabbing incident that left a man critically injured on the New South Wales Mid North Coast. Emergency services responded to Central Road in Port Macquarie around 1.30am on January 30, where they discovered a 28-year-old man suffering from stab wounds on the street. Paramedics provided immediate care before transporting him to Port Macquarie Base Hospital, where he has since remained in a serious but stable condition nearly a week later.
In the wake of the attack, police launched an investigation and executed search warrants at two residences in Port Macquarie and Wauchope yesterday morning. During this operation, two 21-year-old men were apprehended in Port Macquarie and taken into custody. One of the suspects faces charges of wounding with intent to cause bodily harm and common assault, while the other is charged with wounding with intent and breaching an AVO. Both men were denied bail and are scheduled to appear in Port Macquarie Local Court.
