A tragic multi-vehicle accident on the NSW Mid North Coast has resulted in the deaths of two individuals and left four others injured. Emergency services responded to the incident on the northbound M1 Motorway near Nabiac, approximately 30 kilometres south of Taree, shortly before 10 am today.

Upon arrival, police discovered a collision involving a Nissan SUV and a Toyota Land Cruiser towing a caravan. The impact was severe enough to affect a nearby truck, forcing the Nissan into it. Sadly, both occupants of the Nissan were pronounced dead at the scene, and their identities are yet to be confirmed.

The injured parties include a 42-year-old man, a 43-year-old woman, and two young children, aged eight and nine. All four were treated by paramedics on site before being transported to John Hunter Hospital for further medical care. Fortunately, the truck driver suffered no injuries but was taken to Manning Base Hospital for routine testing.

Authorities have established a crime scene and are conducting an investigation to determine the factors contributing to the crash. In a heartwarming note amidst the tragedy, a black chihuahua, which was inside the Nissan during the incident, was reported uninjured and is believed to still be in the vicinity. Police are requesting assistance from the public in locating the dog, which responds to the name Armani.

This incident serves as a sobering reminder of the dangers on our roads and the impact such tragedies have on families and communities.
