Two individuals were apprehended following separate police pursuits in South Australia last night.
The first incident occurred around 8:30 PM when officers attempted to stop a red Holden Sedan on Martins Road in Parafield Gardens. The driver reportedly fled at high speed, leading police to track the vehicle using a PolAir helicopter. The car was monitored as it sped through the area, allegedly reaching speeds of 120 km/h. Authorities deployed spike strips twice, which eventually brought the vehicle to a halt on Hamilton Road in Fairview Park. The 32-year-old driver, who was already disqualified from holding a driver’s licence, attempted to flee on foot but was quickly arrested. He now faces multiple charges, including failing to stop for police, driving dangerously, excessive speeding, and resisting arrest.
Several hours later, in Semaphore, police noticed another vehicle on Bower Road that abruptly accelerated when they approached. A police helicopter was called for backup to assist in tracking the black Holden sedan. The vehicle allegedly sped along the Northern Connector and North-South Motorway before crashing into a roundabout near Waterloo Corner Road. Following the crash, the 41-year-old driver reportedly fled from the scene but was soon apprehended by police. He sustained injuries from the accident and was taken to a hospital for treatment. He has been charged with excessive speeding, dangerous driving, and operating an unlicensed and unregistered vehicle. The 41-year-old did not seek bail and is scheduled to appear in Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on 5 May.
Meanwhile, the 32-year-old driver from the earlier incident has been granted bail and is set to appear in Elizabeth Magistrates Court on 18 June.
