Two individuals have been detained in the car park of a prison after officers reportedly discovered homemade firearms, a machete, and various illegal items in their vehicle. This event took place at the Maryborough Correctional Centre in Queensland last Thursday.
Corrective services personnel acted on intelligence that prompted them to inspect a car located in the visitor parking area of the prison. Upon conducting the search, they allegedly uncovered two makeshift guns, a machete, an axe, a significant amount of cash, number plates, illegal drugs, prescription medicines, and equipment associated with drug use.
A 20-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man were apprehended and face multiple charges, including possession of explosives, carrying a knife in public, and unlawful weapon possession. The pair is scheduled to appear in court in the coming month.
