A teenage boy and a 22-year-old man have been charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of 23-year-old Nathan Mwanza in Wyndham Vale, Melbourne. The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday night, around 8pm, when Mwanza, an aspiring model, engaged in a dispute with two individuals on a bus heading home. After exiting the bus at Haines Drive, he was allegedly stabbed multiple times. Despite the prompt arrival of emergency services, Mwanza succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
After evading capture for two days, detectives from the homicide squad apprehended the suspects—a 17-year-old from the Wyndham area and a 22-year-old from Ascot. They were charged with murder and are scheduled to appear in court.
Mwanza’s family, devastated by the loss, expressed their yearning for answers. They described him as a “gentle giant” and a source of joy in their lives, emphasising that he was not one to cause trouble. His sister, Naomi, highlighted his non-violent nature, stating he would “never, ever hurt a fly.” Mwanza’s untimely death has left a profound impact on his loved ones and the community.
