Metcash Australia, which operates IGA and Drakes supermarkets, has initiated a recall involving seven products due to potential contamination with E. coli -STEC. This strain of bacteria can pose serious health risks if ingested.

Affected items were sold across various independent retailers, including IGA locations in the Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales, and Queensland, as well as Drakes stores in Queensland. The specific products subject to the recall include:

– Community Co Aussie Salad Mix 110g (Use by: 27/03/2025)

This recall follows recent alerts from Food Standards Australia regarding other products from Woolworths and Aldi, the latter of which has broadened its recall to include more items and additional use-by dates.

For instance, Aldi’s expanded recall includes:

– Baby Spinach, 120g (Use by: March 28, March 29)
– Baby Spinach, 280g (Use by: March 28, March 30, March 31)
