Emergency services responded to a residence in Gracemere, located south-west of Rockhampton City, around 11.15pm on January 19, following reports of a baby girl who was unconscious and not breathing. The infant sustained severe injuries and was initially transported to Rockhampton Base Hospital, later being airlifted to Brisbane for further treatment. Unfortunately, she passed away on January 22.
In light of her death, detectives initiated an investigation that led to the arrest of a man. A 20-year-old from Rockhampton has been charged with one count of murder, classified as a domestic violence offence. He is scheduled to appear in Rockhampton Magistrates Court today.
