At a popular music festival in France, nearly 150 individuals reported being pricked with syringes, prompting significant concern and police action. The alarming incidents occurred during the annual Fête de la Musique, which saw millions of people celebrating across the country, particularly in densely populated areas like Paris.

Authorities reported that 145 victims had come forward after experiencing these frightening attacks, which included 13 victims in the capital alone. Among those affected were a 15-year-old girl and an 18-year-old man, who reported separate incidents, leading to an immediate investigation by the police.

Though the contents of the syringes remain unclear, some victims reported feeling unwell, and several were taken to hospitals for toxicology screenings. Concerns heightened with disturbing messages circulating on social media platforms, allegedly urging individuals to target women during the festivities.

The first incident of syringe-related assault was documented around 9:15 PM in Metz, northeastern France, where the local mayor, François Grosdidie, revealed that about 15 young girls aged between 14 and 20 were among the victims. He acknowledged the inherent risks associated with large-scale gatherings, especially when attendees are intoxicated, and condemned the rise of such aggressive acts.

In response to the spate of attacks, police apprehended twelve suspects connected to these incidents. Additionally, over 370 other individuals were detained for various offences during the festival, highlighting the challenges of maintaining safety in bustling, crowded environments.

As the investigation continues, this incident has raised awareness about festival safety and the need for vigilance among attendees, particularly in light of targeted attacks. Authorities are urging anyone who may have experienced suspicious activity to come forward as part of the ongoing efforts to ensure public safety during such events.
