Tim Tszyu is embracing a quieter spotlight as he readies himself for his rematch with Sebastian Fundora, currently featuring on the undercard of a highly anticipated event. The main attraction, Manny Pacquiao’s return to the ring, has somewhat overshadowed the rest of the fighters on the card, particularly outside of Australia.
During the weigh-in, Tszyu thrived in the vibrant atmosphere fueled by Australian, Mexican, and Filipino fans. He engaged the crowd energetically, playfully gesturing towards his midsection, where he’s hoping a championship belt will soon reside. “I was just trying to vibe with the crowd,” Tszyu commented, expressing his exhilaration after the weigh-in. He noted, “It’s pretty unreal to have that crowd and feel that energy. I understand why Manny comes back and does this over and over again. When you’ve got this every fight, it’s hard just to kick back at home.”
Reflecting on his experience, Tszyu recalled attending Pacquiao’s fight against Miguel Cotto a decade ago, describing it as a remarkable moment. “That was a sick experience, now to be participating in it, it’s unreal,” he emphasised.
Overall, Tszyu is keen to make the most of this opportunity, not only to shine in his own right but also to participate in an event headlined by one of boxing’s greatest icons.
