The Trump Organisation has launched a new mobile phone service branded as Trump Mobile, primarily targeting supporters of former President Donald Trump. This initiative is set to compete with established US carriers like AT&T and Verizon, as well as smartphone manufacturers, including Apple and Samsung.
Donald Trump Jr. highlighted the venture at an event in Trump Tower, noting a focus on technology for underserved populations, particularly in the mobile phone sector, which he perceives as lacking in performance. The service offers a plan priced at $US47.45 per month—symbolically referencing Trump’s positions as the 45th and, indirectly, the 47th president.
The new project also promotes American-made technology. The “T1” smartphone is available for pre-order at $499, reinforcing the commitment to US-based production and support. Eric Trump assured consumers that customer service would be local, stating, “You’re not calling up call centres in Bangladesh; you’re doing it right out of St Louis, Missouri.”
Additionally, Trump Mobile plans to introduce a variety of services such as telemedicine and roadside assistance in its product package, promising a broad array of features. This announcement coincides with the ten-year anniversary of Trump’s escalator ride that marked the start of his 2016 presidential campaign.
The expansion of Trump family businesses, which include real estate, casinos, cryptocurrencies, and now mobile services, has raised ethical concerns regarding the potential misuse of Trump’s influence as president. However, the White House firmly refutes any claims of impropriety. Press secretary Karoline Leavitt has described such suggestions as “ridiculous,” maintaining that the administration adheres to high ethical standards.
The Trump Organisation oversees President Trump’s various business interests, and the new mobile service is reported to collaborate with all three major US wireless carriers. As the venture kicks off, it reflects a continuation of the Trump family’s aggressive push into technology and consumer services.
