Nick Adams, a former Sydney councillor and a notable figure in the MAGA movement, has been nominated by former US President Donald Trump as the ambassador to Malaysia. At just 21 years old, Adams served as deputy mayor of Ashfield and gained attention for his controversial call to exterminate pigeons to combat bird flu. His political career faced turbulence in 2009 when he was suspended from the Liberal Party following a confrontation with a journalist, after which he claimed to have stepped away from the party voluntarily.
Relocating to the US, Adams became a citizen in 2021. Trump’s recent nomination of the 40-year-old has initiated the Senate Foreign Relations Committee’s confirmation process. Adams expressed his gratitude, calling the appointment an "honour of a lifetime". In his excitement, he referenced Trump’s America as a place where dreams are realised.
Trump has publicly praised Adams, describing him as an "incredible patriot" and a successful entrepreneur, highlighting his dedication to American ideals. Adams is known for his outspoken support of Trump and has carved out a niche as a “thought leader” within the MAGA faction. He authored the book Green Card Warrior, which was endorsed by Trump as essential reading, and markets himself as "Trump’s favourite author."
On social media, Adams frequently shares his admiration for Trump while voicing strong opinions against immigrants, the "woke left," and various cultural icons. He also presents a rather flamboyant image of himself, professing a love for Hooters, extravagant meals, and fitness, while also claiming to attract considerable attention from women. He has coined the term "high-value alpha male," suggesting that achieving this persona requires significant effort.
Adams’ journey began in Sydney, where he first entered the political arena at 19 and later completed his degree at the University of Sydney. With his nomination to represent the US in Kuala Lumpur, Adams is set to transition from local Australian politics to an influential role on the international stage.
