A significant multi-vehicle accident on the M1 Pacific Motorway has led to considerable traffic disruptions for commuters heading north from Sydney. The incident occurred on the Hawkesbury River Bridge at Mooney Mooney, resulting in southbound light vehicles being diverted off the motorway at Mount White and onto the Pacific Highway.

Heavy vehicles involved in the crash have been temporarily parked at the scene. Currently, one of the three northbound lanes is also closed, exacerbating the traffic issues. Motorists are strongly urged to allow extra travel time as delays are anticipated to persist throughout the morning.

Emergency services responded quickly, with three ambulances and a NSW Ambulance helicopter arriving at the site around 7:15 am. Paramedics attended to a male teenager suffering from leg injuries, while efforts are underway to rescue a truck driver trapped inside their vehicle.

Authorities continue to advise caution for all motorists navigating through the area, emphasising the importance of patience as traffic crews work diligently to manage the situation.

This incident is ongoing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
