A truck driver has been charged with dangerous driving following a tragic crash involving three vehicles that resulted in the death of a man in rural New South Wales.
Emergency services responded to the incident, which occurred on the Sturt Highway in Tarcutta, not far from Wagga Wagga, shortly before midnight. The collision involved two trucks and an SUV, in which a 70-year-old man driving the SUV became trapped and died on site.
Both truck drivers, aged 25 and 31, were transported to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital for compulsory testing. Authorities promptly established a crime scene for further investigation.
Later that evening, at approximately 7:45 PM, the 25-year-old truck driver was arrested and charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, along with additional charges related to dangerous driving and causing injury whilst in control of a motor vehicle. He has been refused bail and is scheduled to appear in Parramatta Local Court today.
