Truck consumed by fire, one driver deceased following collision involving two trucks in Sydney’s south-west

A tragic accident occurred near Campbelltown in Sydney’s south-west, resulting in one fatality following a collision between two trucks. New South Wales police received alerts about the serious incident at approximately 6:30 AM on the Hume Highway, specifically in Blair Athol.

Upon their arrival, emergency services found one of the trucks fully engulfed in flames. Fire and Rescue NSW crews worked to extinguish the fire, while commuters captured disturbing footage of the blazing vehicle as they passed by.

Sadly, one driver was pronounced dead at the scene, although their identity has not yet been confirmed. The second driver sustained various injuries and received on-site treatment from NSW Ambulance paramedics before being transported to the hospital for further care.

As a result of the crash, a crime scene has been established, and officers from the Crash Investigation Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. All southbound traffic on the Hume Motorway has been halted at Blair Athol, with diversions in place affecting local roads. Commuters are encouraged to check the Live Traffic NSW website for ongoing updates regarding road conditions.

NSW police are appealing for witnesses who may have information or dash cam footage related to the crash, urging them to reach out to Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
