Tropical cyclone Alfred is currently situated approximately 300 kilometres east of Brisbane and 270 kilometres east of the Gold Coast, with landfall expected tomorrow. The storm’s forward speed has decreased to just seven kilometres per hour, raising concerns that it may intensify further.

Forecasts predict wind gusts reaching up to 155 kilometres per hour. If these gusts increase to 164 kilometres per hour, Alfred’s classification could escalate to a category three cyclone. Despite these specifications, the current expectation is for Alfred to make landfall as a category two storm.

Authorities are closely monitoring the cyclone’s progress as it approaches the coast, and residents in the affected areas are advised to prepare for potential severe weather conditions.
