Three men have been charged after police discovered over 5,000 cannabis plants at a Leppington property in Sydney’s south-west. The operation took place around 8am following a tip-off, leading authorities to execute a search warrant on Ingleburn Road.
Acting Inspector Mark Landrigan noted that the plants were in various stages of growth, indicating a significant cultivation effort. He described the findings as “quite brazen,” especially as the area is becoming more established. As police arrived, the three suspects attempted to flee but were apprehended nearby. During the arrest, one man required treatment for a dog bite.
The suspects, aged 36, 39, and 43, face multiple drug-related charges. Additionally, the 43-year-old has been charged for a separate outstanding warrant. All three have been denied bail and are set to appear in court today. This operation underscores ongoing efforts to combat illegal drug manufacturing in the region.
